BRIEF INTRODUCTION
As a student of this programme, you will have access to almost all of the modules offered in the Department of English, Culture and Communication, across our specialist areas of English language and literature, and communication and media.
The unique level of choice and flexibility makes this programme ideal for international students. Like our other English programmes, it has modules on translation and interpreting between English and Chinese, as well as a unique specialised module on literary translation. The programme’s flexible structure, however, means that these modules are not compulsory, allowing both international and domestic students to follow alternative routes.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Communications and the media play an increasingly central role in modern society, economics and politics, making English, the global communications language, more important than ever before. You will gain an understanding of the changing use of language and other forms of communication, and the ways in which they inform and influence contemporary society.
By the time you graduate, you will be able to:
- communicate professionally in English, within the context of journalism and the media
