Entry Requirements
If English is not your native language or if you have not studied in English at degree level, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency. You should normally possess an appropriate IELTS, TOEFL, or an equivalent score:
- ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: An undergraduate degree (UK 2:1 or equivalent) in chemistry or a related discipline
- ENGLISH: IELTS: 6.0 (minimum of 5.0 in all sections); TOEFL iBT: 80
You will qualify for an exemption from the English language requirement if one of the following applies to you:
1. You are a national of a majority English-speaking country:
Antigua and Barbuda; Australia; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Canada; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; New Zealand; St Kitts and Nevis; St Lucia; St Vincent and the Grenadines; Trinidad and Tobago; USA; UK.
2. You have completed/are completing a degree in a majority English-speaking country (Chinese joint venture programmes are not included). Your degree shall be conferred no earlier than September 2017.
3. You have completed/are completing a degree which has been taught and assessed in English (Chinese joint venture programmes are not included), and your degree shall be conferred no earlier than September 2017 with an English proficiency letter issued by the institution. The English proficiency letter should:
-be typed and printed on institutional letterhead.
-bear the seal/signature of the issuing authority
-indicate your degree has been taught and assessed entirely in English
4. You have completed a degree from one of the universities listed below:
Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University; University of Nottingham Ningbo China; New York University Shanghai; Wenzhou-Kean University; Duke Kunshan University; The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; Beijing Normal University-HongKong Baptist University United International College (aka UIC); Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
In exceptional circumstances, individual cases will be considered on their own merits. You may be required to attend interviews or tests to further demonstrate your English proficiency.
If you miss the English language requirements by 0.5-1.0 of an IELTS band, or a similar number for other English language exams, you can be admitted to the programme after successful completion of our four- or six-week intensive English presessional course.
You can also apply to take the XJTLU English language test in lieu of an IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent. Based on the score, students may be admitted or may be required to take and successfully complete the four- or six-week intensive English presessional course.
Additionally, students may be required to complete English language courses on a pass/ fail basis as part of the additional learning activity requirement during their studies at XJTLU.

Program Description
OVERVIEW
The MRes Advanced Chemical Sciences programme provides students with the education and training needed to understand different aspects of the field of material sciences. It aligns with similar MSc programmes at the University of Liverpool.
The programme contains taught modules covering areas from synthetic chemistry to nanotechnology to analytical methods and instrumentation. It places strong emphasis on the development of project management and professional skills. After completing the taught modules, you will engage in a 12-month extensive research project of your choice that leads to submission of a dissertation.
A customised learning plan is designed for you, taking into account your background and career aspirations. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of an MRes degree from the University of Liverpool.

The completion of additional learning activities is required to obtain your masters degree. Normally, required ALA hours will be distributed evenly across each semester, amounting to 200 hours per semester. Part-time programmes will normally require 100 to 150 hours per semester.CAREERS

Applicants must submit a written study plan or research proposal in English or Chinese, with a minimum of 800 words for Master degree.
*9. Completed Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report
The physical examination must cover ALL the items listed in form. The forms with incomplete records or without the suggestion and signature of the attending physician, official cross-edge stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
