-An undergraduate degree (UK 2:1 or equivalent) in a computer science-related discipline with suitable programming and programme design experience.
-If English is not your native language or if you have not studied in English at degree level, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency. You should normally possess an appropriate IELTS, TOEFL, or an equivalent score
- ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: An undergraduate degree (UK 2:1 or equivalent) in a computer science-related discipline with suitable programming and programme design experience.
- IELTS: 6.5 (minimum of 5.5 in all sections),TOEFL iBT: 90 (minimum of 21 in any skill)
In exceptional circumstances, individual cases will be considered on their own merits. You may be required to attend interviews or tests to further demonstrate your English proficiency.
You will qualify for an exemption from the English language requirement if one of the following applies to you:
1. You are a national of a majority English-speaking country:
Antigua and Barbuda; Australia; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Canada; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; New Zealand; St Kitts and Nevis; St Lucia; St Vincent and the Grenadines; Trinidad and Tobago; USA; UK.
2. You have completed/are completing a degree in a majority English-speaking country (Chinese joint venture programmes are not included). Your degree shall be conferred no earlier than September 2017.
3. You have completed/are completing a degree which has been taught and assessed in English (Chinese joint venture programmes are not included), and your degree shall be conferred no earlier than September 2017 with an English proficiency letter issued by the institution. The English proficiency letter should:
-be typed and printed on institutional letterhead.
-bear the seal/signature of the issuing authority
-indicate your degree has been taught and assessed entirely in English
4. You have completed a degree from one of the universities listed below:
Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University; University of Nottingham Ningbo China; New York University Shanghai; Wenzhou-Kean University; Duke Kunshan University; The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen; Beijing Normal University-HongKong Baptist University United International College (aka UIC); Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
If you miss the English language requirements by 0.5-1.0 of an IELTS band, or a similar number for other English language exams, you can be admitted to the programme after successful completion of our four- or six-week intensive English presessional course.
You can also apply to take the XJTLU English language test in lieu of an IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent. Based on the score, students may be admitted or may be required to take and successfully complete the four- or six-week intensive English presessional course.
Additionally, students may be required to complete English language courses on a pass/ fail basis as part of the additional learning activity requirement during their studies at XJTLU.

Program Description
OVERVIEW
The MRes Computer Science programme is designed to develop research skills and allow students to specialise in a specific field of study, within the broader area of computer science. This will prepare you for future employment in a specialised area or a role involving academic research or industrial research and development.
Graduates of this programme, as with all XJTLU masters degrees, earn a University of Liverpool degree that is recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
The MRes Computer Science programme will equip you with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of:
- advanced theoretical fundamentals of current trends in computer science
- state-of-the-art key research issues in specialised areas of computer science
- techniques for project management and the design, implementation and evaluation of IT solutions
MODULES
You will complete four taught modules in the first semester, followed by a research project for a total duration of 18 months. The precise content of your research project will be discussed and decided with your project supervisor and is subject to approval.

The completion of additional learning activities is required to complete your masters degree. Normally, required ALA hours will be distributed evenly across each semester, amounting to 200 hours per semester. Part-time programmes will normally require 100 to 150 hours per semester.CAREERS
Graduates from this programme will find employment as research and development engineers, systems developers and project leaders in IT companies, or will go on to further studies as PhD candidates.

If you are a graduate of XJTLU, the University of Liverpool or Xi’an Jiaotong University, you will automatically receive a discount of 20 percent of the tuition fee.Payment options
Masters students have the option to pay tuition fees in instalments each semester. You can also choose to pay the fees upfront at the time of registration, in this case a discount of five percent of the total fees will be offered.You will be asked to indicate how you would like to pay the fees when you confirm your acceptance of the unconditional offer.

Applicants must submit a written study plan or research proposal in English or Chinese, with a minimum of 800 words for Master degree.
*9. Completed Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report
The physical examination must cover ALL the items listed in form. The forms with incomplete records or without the suggestion and signature of the attending physician, official cross-edge stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid.
